Beef Cattle Warranty Coverage Information

The uslp Warranty Products Provide Members with Coverage for Financial Risks Related to the Following Events:
  • Mortality associated with one or more of the five specified diseases,
  • Revenue Loss/Additional Expense associated with quarantine or hold orders resulting from a confirmed positive test for one of the five specified diseases in your covered herd, and
  • “Traceback” Liability coverage associated with legal claims, for issues such as food borne illnesses in humans, alleging links to your enrolled animals.

To maintain your warranty coverage, as a uslp member you are required to:
  • Enroll your calves in an approved process verified program,
  • Follow minimum standards for managing your beef cattle,
  • Comply with the uslp Membership Guidelines,
  • Apply USDA program compliant identifiers to your covered animals under one year of age and mature cattle separated from the herd for any reason, and
  • In some regions, comply with requirements specific to one or more of the five specified diseases.

The five specified diseases currently covered by the uslp Beef Cattle Warranty products are:
  • Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD),
  • Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE),
  • Bovine Tuberculosis (TB),
  • Bovine Brucellosis, and
  • Anthrax
